Dear Teacher,
During the school year we encourage you and your students to take full advantage of the many materials and services offered by the Anaheim Public Library. We have prepared these Teacher Pages to help you develop successful library assignments, plan for library visits and get library cards for your students.

We are committed to helping your students complete their library assignments. We can help in the following ways:

  • Orient them to the library and its resources.
  • Demonstrate the use of the online catalog and how to find materials in our collection.
  • Instruct them in the use of the periodical and newspaper indexes and locating those materials.
  • Assist them in finding sources in the reference collection.
  • Offer bibliographies and advice on finding fiction or literature appropriate to their age and reading level.

Class Visits and Library Tours

Class Tour - A Librarian will lead this library tour, including introductions to the Youth Services, Reference and Nonfiction collections. Topics of discussion may include: Checking out books, library behavior, and searching the catalog. Tours for lower grades may also include stories.

Class Visits to the Library - Classes are welcome to come to the library to work on research skills and check out books with or without the assistance of a librarian. Either way, please let us know in advance so that we may prepare for your visit.

School Visit - Upon request, a librarian may visit any local school to give booktalks, tell stories, and promote the use of the library and its programs. We can speak to students in assembly or in individual classrooms.

Please call your nearest branch at least two weeks in advance
to schedule a tour or visit.
